CAFFEINE

Originally made from coffee beans, but most commonly synthesized in a laboratory. When used topically, caffeine has a powerful anti-cellulite effect. Caffeine helps to dissolve hypodermic fat cells, relieve swelling and accelerates the metabolism facilitating faster toxin removal from the body.

WHAT DOES “CAFFEINE AT 5%” MEAN?

Caffeine at 5% is another way of saying 5% of the amount of caffeine is active. Or, 100mg of caffeine at 5% = 0.05mg of ACTIVE caffeine.

WHY IS THIS MORE BENEFICIAL?

Caffeine at lower active ingredient percentages allows us to include more caffeine, without creating a contact burn, as well as controlling the amount of nootropic response created while combining with other stimulants.

CLINICAL EVIDENCE

L-CARNITINE

L-Carnitine and the related compound Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALCAR) are compounds able to alleviate the effects of aging and disease on mitochondria, while increasing the mitochondria’s potential to burn fat. ACLAR is often used as a brain booster, due to its ability to increase alertness and mitochondrial capacity while providing support for the neurons.

CLINICAL EVIDENCE

Studies show, in double blind procedures, when given L-Carnitine daily for 6 months, improvements were noted in ratings of mental and physical fatigue, lean mass INCREASED while fat mass DECREASED. L-Carnitine or ALCAR isolated are unable to produce the expected effect on aging and mitochondrial disease. The fat loss found in studies is attributed to combining L-Carnitine, which suggests the potentiation of the effect among the substances.

YOHIMBE

Yohimbe, and its subset yohimbine, are fat-burning compounds, primarily used to lose fat during short term fasting. It works by increasing adrenaline levels in the body, as well as inhibiting a regulatory process in fat cells, which normally suppresses fat burning.

Glycolic acid is a well-known alpha hydroxy acid and is effective when used to treat scarring and as an anti-aging treatment.

WHAT IS ALPHA HYDROXY ACID (AHA)?

A class of chemicals compounds used primarily in the cosmetics industry to aid in the reduction of wrinkles, as well as soften strong defining lines and improve the overall look and feel of the skin. The smaller of the AHA compounds is found in chemical peels, this compound removes dead or loose skin cells sitting on top of new skin growth. Glycolic acid is the ingredient used to exfoliate the surface layer of the skin and open the pores, to allow the active ingredients to enter the bloodstream more readily.

AMINOPHYLLINE

Aminophylline is a compound that is increasingly being used in the formulation of anti-cellulite creams. However, the compound is better known for its use in asthma inhalers and prescription drugs. Aminophylline relaxes the muscles and this makes it an effective antidote for patients suffering from asthmatic attacks where the chest muscles become constricted. Aminophylline is also an active antioxidant and very effective in breaking down fat deposits accumulated under the skin which eventually cause cellulite to appear. Unlike the case when it is used in anti-asthma drugs, topical applications which contain Aminophylline can be bought without a doctor’s prescription.

 

CLINICAL RESULTS

At week 12, there was a significant reduction in BMI from baseline that was not different between the groups. The reduction in waist circumference was 11 +/- 1.0 cm in the aminophylline cream group and 5.0 +/- 0.6 cm in the control group (p < 0.001). The reduction in waist circumference was significant for both women and men, but the women lost significantly more waist girth. Gotu kola (Centella asiatica) has been used to treat many conditions for thousands of years in India, China, and Indonesia. It was used to heal wounds and treat skin conditions such as leprosy and psoriasis.

TREATMENT IN THE FOLLOWING:

VENOUS INSUFFICIENCY AND VARICOSE VEINS

When blood vessels lose their elasticity, blood pools in the legs and fluid leaks out of the blood vessels. That causes the legs to swell (venous insufficiency). Several small studies suggest gotu kola may help reduce swelling and improve blood flow. In a study of 94 people with venous insufficiency, those who took gotu kola saw their symptoms improve compared to those who took placebo. In another study of people with varicose veins, ultrasound tests showed that people who took gotu kola had less leakage of fluid. One study also found that people who took gotu kola before flying had less ankle and leg swelling than those who did not take it.

 

WOUND HEALING AND SKIN LESIONS

Gotu kola has chemicals called triterpenoids. In animal and lab studies, these compounds seem to help heal wounds. For example, some studies suggest that triterpenoids strengthen the skin, boost antioxidants in wounds, and increase blood supply to the area. Based on these findings, gotu kola has been applied to the skin, or used topically, for minor burns, psoriasis, preventing scars after surgery, and preventing or reducing stretch marks. SCLERODERMA

A single study of 13 women with scleroderma found that gotu kola decreased joint pain and skin hardening, and improved finger movement.

VITAMIN E

Vitamin E is a group of eight different compounds which, collectively, help support antioxida-tion in the body. These molecules, which are divided into two categories: tocopherols and to-cotrienols.

Each category is further divided up into alpha (a), beta (0, gamma (y), and delta (8) vitamers. The vitamin a- tocopherol is considered to be the 'main' vitamin, but the gammas (y-tocoph-erol and y-tocotrienol) are also popular research topics, due to their presence in the diet.

Collectively, these compounds are called vitamin E. Vitamin E supplements almost always contain a- tocopherol.
